Many people seek the help of technicians for installing mobile signal boosters. But these are very simple devices that you can easily install on your own. The installation of your cell signal booster will be complete in just three steps. We list the steps you have to follow for installing your cellular signal boosters.
Install The External Antenna
The external/exterior/outdoor antenna is a significant part of the mobile signal boosters. The performance of your booster is greatly dependent on this component, as it is responsible for receiving the signals from the outside areas. Hence, you have to install the exterior antenna with great care.
You have to find a location with good outside signal strength for mounting the external antenna. Use the help of your mobile phone for finding a spot that receives the maximum signal strength from your carrier.
Try to mount your external antenna on the roof of the building for getting better results, but if this is not an option for you, then mount them on your windows. Try to mount them as high as possible for receiving maximum signals.
Another important thing you have to consider when mounting your antenna is to point it in the right direction. If you are using a uni-directional antenna, you will have to point it in the direction of the carrier’s cell tower for receiving the signals. Also, it is important to point your uni-directional antenna away from the building for avoiding problems like oscillation.
Install The Amplifier
After installing the outside antenna, the next step is to install your amplifier. It should be placed in a location where you can easily access it. Also, make sure that it is installed in a well-ventilated area.
After installing the amplifier, connect your outside antenna to it using the cables.
Install The Internal Antenna
The internal/interior/indoor antenna broadcasts the boosted signals to the required areas. When installing the interior antenna, you should ensure that it has enough distance from the exterior antenna for avoiding the signals from this antenna reaching the external antenna which results in a problem called oscillation.
If you are using a dome antenna, install it in a central location for efficiently transmitting signals in all directions. If you are using a panel antenna, you can install it on the roof or the wall, based on the area you want to cover.
After installing the internal antenna, connect it to the amplifier. Then you can connect it to the power supply and make sure that your booster is working properly.
